Strong4Life is a wellness movement launched by Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta to ignite societal change and reverse the epidemic of childhood obesity and its associated diseases in Georgia. Based on our clinical behavior change model for treating overweight and obese children, Strong4Life aims to help families achieve sustainable lifestyle change by breaking down the complex issue of childhood obesity into simple steps. Gwinnett United in Drug Education, Inc. (GUIDE) is a non-profit community-based substance abuse prevention agency that has been serving Gwinnett County since 1986. GUIDE’s mission is to mobilize and equip the Gwinnett community with the information and strategies needed to promote positive youth development, improve community conditions and address other issues associated with substance use and abuse. GUIDE current major initiatives include: Gwinnett Mobilizing for Change in Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs, The Georgia Teen Institute, and Training and Capacity Building.
The Afterschool Alliance is the nation's leading voice for afterschool programs and is the only organization dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of afterschool programs and advocating for more afterschool investments to ensure that all children have access to affordable, quality afterschool programs. Launched in October 2000, Lights On Afterschool is the only nationwide event celebrating afterschool programs and their important role in the lives of children, families and communities. The effort has become a hallmark of the afterschool movement and generates thousands of media clippings each year.
